An All-Around Direct Marketing Success
The challenge

As the official governing body for the sport of gymnastics within the UK, British Gymnastics has a vast and hugely diverse membership base. One way that the organisation stays connected to its 250,000 strong membership base is through its annual membership mailer.

The British Gymnastics’s marketing team reached out to us to help create a unique promotional product to include in its annual membership mailer. The practical, gymnastics-inspired product needed to stay within the campaign budget, appeal to a wide range of supporters, and be a suitable size for a franking machine.

The ideas

British Gymnastics strives to support, lead and inspire all those involved or interested in gymnastics. So, we knew we had to create a branded product that would engage existing members and inspire passion for the sport in a fun, yet functional way.

Drawing inspiration from the world of gymnastics and working within the project requirements, we came up with a bespoke, entertaining product that perfectly embodies the exceptional strength and skill that defines the sport - a flexible bendy pencil.

The first year’s campaign was incredibly well-received, and since then, we’ve worked with British Gymnastics to design a range of promotional merchandise for its annual campaign. In previous years, we’ve created spirited keyrings, branded magnet frames, colourful post-it notes, and a set of gymnast-shaped paper clips.

The results

We now work with British Gymnastics to produce more than 400,000 direct mail promotional merchandise pieces each year. The engaging products are a crucial component of British Gymnastics’ membership outreach strategy, and the practicality and quality of each product helps ensure the organisation’s brand is seen time and time again.

Since collaborating on the first direct mail campaign, we’ve also helped British Gymnastics develop a range of branded merchandise for its online shop, including notebooks, clothing, and keyrings.
